Magazine Front Cover Analysis

Clash is a popular music and fashion magazine based in the United Kingdom. It is published four times a year by Music Republic Ltd, its predecessor Clash Music Ltd has gone into liquidation. The magazine won the Best New Magazine award in 2004 at the PPA Magazine Awards and has won further awards in England and Scotland. Most notably, it won Magazine Of The Year at the 2011 Record Of The Day Awards.
By putting the name and picture of a famous artist they are attracting the artists demographic to read the magazine. The high exposure shot of her face connotes to draws the center of attention to her face. Roland Barthes theory of semiotics can be applied as the color blue connotes to sadness and loneliness which is a common theme for her songs.
David Gaunlettes theory of identity can be applied as the central female character acts as a role model that others can compare their own lives too.

The main text is on the right page which gives the reader information about the new album along with other details about the artist. This magazine is Q magazine which is a popular music magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom. Q was founded in 1986 by Mark Ellen and David Hepworth
